Man City close in on deal to sign Sverre Nypan - David Ornstein

Manchester City are closing in on an agreement to sign Rosenborg wonderkid Sverre Nypan, according to David Ornstein.
The 18-year-old youngster's future has taken another twist. In January, Nypan visited several clubs across Europe, primarily in England, and it was thought that he would choose his next side.
However, despite the attempts of Arsenal and City Football Group's Girona, he opted to wait until the summer before making a decision. This allowed Aston Villa to swoop in and make significant progress towards signing him.
Indeed, it was eventually believed that Nypan was set for a summer move to Villa Park, but this no longer appears to be the case. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Man City are now closing in on an agreement to sign the teenager.
Man City still need to finalise personal terms with Nypan, but it seems that an agreement with his club Rosenborg is already in place.
City to sign Nypan in record deal
Ornstein does not reveal the modalities of the deal with Rosenborg, but he does disclose that it is expected to be a record deal for the Norwegian top flight.
Nypan is not expected to be part of Pep Guardiola's squad in the upcoming season. Instead, he will go out on loan to continue his development in an environment where he is guaranteed to get regular minutes. Perhaps Girona will get their hands on him after all.

Nypan has established himself as one of Europe's most exciting talents in recent seasons as he has been playing regular senior football for Rosenborg since age 16.
He has already made 70 first-team appearances in which he has chipped in with 14 goals and 11 assists from midfield. His all-action style and attacking output have seen him earn comparisons to compatriot Martin Odegaard.
