Manchester City are poised to complete their first summer signing, with football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano declaring a deal all-but done for Pep Guardiola’s side.

City are closing in on Rayan Cherki as a replacement for Kevin De Bruyne, but the Cityzens have already tied down Mahamadou Sangare from Champions League winners PSG.

The 18-year-old will move from the Parc des Princes side to the Etihad in what Romano believes is a clear shift in the transfer strategy of the Premier League giants.

Taking to X, he declared: “18-year-old striker Mahamadou Sangare will undergo a medical with Manchester City.

“He’s set to sign long-term deal as Man City's strategy is clear: sign and develop top young talents… Sangare leaves PSG on a free transfer to join City.

“Here we go, confirmed.”

What type of player is Mahamadou Sangare?

Sangare is primarily known for his speed and finishing abilities. This has been underlined by a prolific return for PSG’s U19 team, with whom he has scored 33 goals in 35 appearances.

The Mali-born France U18 international also boasts an excellent record in the UEFA Youth League, having bagged eight goals in six appearances this season, including hat-tricks against Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Mahamadou Sangare is one of the best of his generation
- Former PSG player Bassirou Dembele

Former PSG player Bassirou Dembele told AfricaFoot: “PSG is a big club, but it needs a good player policy, securing certain talents for the future of the club. Mahamadou Sangare is one of the best of his generation, just like Axel Tape, Oumar Camara and Ibrahim Mbaye.”

Like Sangare, Axel Tape is destined to leave this summer, with the young defender moving to Bayer Leverkusen.

PSG would, however, point to the development of Warren Zaire-Emery, Senny Mayulu and Ibrahim Mbaye of being evidence of a route from the academy to the first team.

Nevertheless, Sangare has chosen to move to Manchester City, where he will be able to learn from one of the best in his position in the form of Erling Haaland.
