Chelsea possess a 40 per cent sell-on clause in Anjorin’s contract, which means the Blues will make €2m from the deal.

Chelsea sold Anjorin to Empoli in the summer of 2024 for free but put a clause in the contract that meant they were due 40% of any future sale by the Serie A club.

Anjorin makes Chelsea money

Despite Empoli being relegated to Serie B this past season, Anjorin impressed in his first year in Italian football.

He scored two goals and delivered three assists from midfield in 22 games.

The 23-year-old joined Chelsea in 2008 as a youngster and graduated through the academy system.

He was regarded as one of the club’s most exciting young players, playing a key role in their FA Youth Cup win in 2018.

He made his Chelsea senior debut in the 2019-20 season but only managed five appearances in total for the club as he was loaned out to Lokomotiv Moscow, Huddersfield and Portsmouth.

Anjorin eventually got a permanent move to Empoli last year where he started to break out, earning him a move up the ladder to mid-table Torino.

Anjorin was a star in England’s youth teams, making 33 appearances from Under-17 to Under-20 level and scoring an impressive 33 goals.

He is able to play as an attacking midfielder and as a winger, but he featured mostly in midfield for Empoli.
