The Ghana international has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Enzo Maresca’s side in recent weeks and the Blues are eager to finalise an agreement for his signature ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup.

Kudus has been identified as an alternative option to the likes of Alejandro Garnacho, Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens, with West Ham understood to be open to selling the 24-year-old this summer as they look to raise funds to improve the squad at Graham Potter’s disposal.

However, they have turned down Chelsea’s opening offer for Kudus, according to talkSPORT. The Blues were reportedly willing to offer the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Robert Sanchez in exchange for the ex-Ajax star, but West Ham have opted against accepting this proposal as it’s believed they would prefer a straight sale.

Kudus has a €100 million release clause included in his current contract with the Hammers, although Chelsea will likely aim to negotiate a far lower figure as his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €61.7m.

The 24-year-old scored five goals and provided three assists in 32 Premier League matches last season, and he has reportedly rejected a move to Saudi Arabia in order to extend his stay in the English top flight.

Mohammed Kudus to Chelsea?

Chelsea’s interest in Kudus comes after their decision to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United following his loan spell at the club.

Furthermore, with Mykhailo Mudryk still suspended following a positive doping test and the club open to offers for Noni Madueke, Chelsea are determined to bring at least one new winger to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Meanwhile, they are in advanced talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, despite the recent signing of Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.
