Leipzig ready to lower Sesko asking price

RB Leipzig could lower their demands for Benjamin Sesko from their ‘dream’ valuation of more than €80 million to a more ‘realistic’ one of €70m plus bonuses.

German outlet BILD claim that Sesko wants to leave Leipzig and that the Bundesliga side are open to his sale ‘sooner rather than later’ to be able to operate at a larger scale in the transfer market.

Leipzig are yet to receive a formal offer for Sesko, with Arsenal still thought to be holding reservations over a deal due to the 22-year-old’s demands, which include a release clause, according to The Transfers Podcast.

Arsenal are focusing on other deals for other positions before finalising their decision over which striker to sign, with Viktor Gyokeres still a frontrunner to be signed even with Sporting playing hardball over their top scorer.

Arsenal in ‘active talks’ for defender

Arsenal are reportedly in “active talks” to sign Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera amid their pursuit of a new defender this summer.

The 20-year-old has been identified as a key target by Mikel Arteta’s side and they are hoping to finalise a deal shortly.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are in “active talks” with Valencia over a deal for the Spain U21 international, while The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also revealed that Mosquera has been lined up as a potential signing by the Gunners hierarchy.

The north London giants have identified Mosquera as their “preferred” defensive target, according to Ornstein, and Romano has insisted that the deal is “on.”

Gunners eye Eze as Rodrygo alternative

Arsenal are considering a move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze as a cheaper option to Rodrygo if the Real Madrid star proves too expensive to solve their winger conundrum.

Arteta is understood to have already given his approval to sign Rodrygo and he is seen as the club’s ideal target, but with the likelihood of a deal still uncertain, Arsenal have continued to assess other options, leading the club to Eze.

Eze has a release clause of around £68m (€80m) in his contract with Palace and talkSPORT claim that Arsenal are now preparing to rival Tottenham to sign the 26-year-old this summer.

With two years remaining on his contract, Palace are open to Eze’s departure, although Arsenal may only end up moving for the England international if it is clear that Rodrygo is an unrealistic option to sign this summer.

Lewis-Skelly rejects Real Madrid to extend Arsenal contract

Myles Lewis-Skelly rejected interest from Real Madrid to sign a five-year extension at Arsenal, which was confirmed on Thursday.

Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a breakout campaign for the Gunners and his previous deal was set to expire next summer, having still been on the terms of his youth contract.

Real had contacted Arsenal about Lewis-Skelly’s availability earlier this year and had hoped the teenager would emulate Trent Alexander-Arnold by running down his contract to join them for free but the discussions went no further, according to The Times.

Lewis-Skelly has now signed a deal until 2030 which makes him one of the highest-paid teenagers in the world.
