Alejandro Garnacho’s departure from Manchester United still seems likely and it has now been confirmed that Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have both submitted transfer enquiries to sign the winger.

Garnacho is set to leave the Red Devils after falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim. The final straw seemed to come when the Argentine was only a substitute in the Europa League final loss against Tottenham Hotspur.

Since going on the market, three Premier League clubs are said to have taken an interest in the 20-year-old player.

Serie A champions Napoli are also looking at him as a possible replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who moved to PSG in January, while Atletico Madrid are the other option that has been mentioned.

Garnacho, meanwhile, has been in Rome, Italy on a post-season holiday following United’s brief tour of the Far East.

Chelsea and Arsenal have opened Garnacho talks

Reports from Argentina have confirmed the identity of two of the teams chasing Garnacho, with Chelsea and Arsenal cited.

“Two of the three clubs that enquired about Garnacho are Chelsea and Arsenal,” Gaston Edul reports.

He adds in a boost to his English suitors: “Garnacho has a preference to stay in the Premier League.”

United are unlikely to be happy about selling the player to a direct competitor yet they may have little choice due to the finances involved.

Amorim and Garnacho’s relationship looks a difficult one to repair while the Red Devils appear happy to have the former Atletico Madrid youth on the market given the money that can be raised by his sale.

With few clubs in Europe willing and able to foot the player’s transfer fee and wages, Garnacho may well end up remaining in the Premier League, and to that end a move to Arsenal or Chelsea cannot be ruled out. Both clubs, after all, are known to be seeking a winger this summer.
