Arsenal ‘closing in’ on Gyokeres agreement

Arsenal are reportedly closing in on an agreement to sign Viktor Gyokeres this summer, with a five year contract worth a salary of £9m said to be on the table.

CaughtOffside report that Arsenal lead the race for Gyokeres even with interest from Man Utd and Liverpool and that negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Man Utd are also said to be keen on making a bid for Gyokeres, while Liverpool could target the Swede as a replacement for Darwin Nunez.

However, with Gunners director Andrea Berta said to have selected Gyokeres as his top striker target, the 26-year-old could be set for a move to the Emirates this summer.

Gyokeres has ‘heart set’ on Gunners

Gyokeres is set to have his ‘heart set’ on a move to Arsenal after talks with the club, according to reports in Portugal.

It is claimed that Mikel Arteta has convinced Gyokeres of the need to join Arsenal and it looks likely that the prolific striker will turn down interest from Chelsea and Man Utd to make the move.

In particular, Gyokeres is said to have been convinced ‘emotionally and financially’ by a move, although Arsenal are still looking at other striking targets.

The Gunners are understood to still be considering a move for Benjamin Sesko, with the RB Leipzig youngster and Gyokeres the two strikers on the club’s shortlist.

Gyokeres fee learned

Viktor Gyokeres will likely cost a fee of around £60 million, according to the BBC.

Gyokeres is among the top strikers available on the market alongside the likes of Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko.

And when breaking down the targets available to Premier League clubs, it was claimed that Gyokeres and Osimhen could be available for £60m, although their wages will be ‘high’.

"Osimhen and Gyokeres are both thought to be available for about £60m - but will command high wages,” BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella said.

"Sesko and Gyokeres are also on the radar of new Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.

"Liverpool, with Darwin Nunez likely to leave, as well as Champions League finalists Paris St-Germain are both expected to bring in a striker too.”

Gyokeres warned of Man Utd transfer

Former England striker Alan Shearer has warned Gyokeres of moving to Manchester United, insisting that it would be ‘brave’ if they are not in the Champions League next year.

Gyokeres formed a strong relationship with United boss Ruben Amorim at Sporting but the Swedish star is believed to prefer a move to a club in the Champions League first and foremost.

United could secure Champions League football with a win in the Europa League final against Tottenham next week and Shearer described United as a ‘mess from top to bottom’.

"It would be a brave move for him, or any other player, to go to Old Trafford if they're not in the Champions League,” Shearer said.

"As a fan, you would worry about next season if they're not in the Champions League. It's just been a mess from top to bottom.”
