Jurgen Klopp has agreed to become the next manager of Roma, claims La Stampa in a shock report.

The Italian newspaper, based in Turin, reports that Klopp has accepted an offer from the Serie A side to be their manager from the 2025-26 season.

La Stampa claims that Klopp had already accepted another offer at a club with a change in ownership but then changed his mind to take over at Roma.

Klopp is currently the head of global soccer with Red Bull, meaning that he is in charge of the overall footballing strategy of the company’s group of clubs.

Klopp to Roma?

The German left his post as Liverpool manager at the end of the 2023-24 season after eight and a half glorious years.

Klopp won a Premier League title and Champions League and took Liverpool back among England and Europe’s elite having been in the doldrums for the best part of 30 years.

La Stampa claims that Roma hope that Klopp can have a similar revitalising effect on the Giallorossi, who have not won a Scudetto since 2001.

However, Klopp’s agent has denied the report that his client will be the new coach of Roma.

“The news about Klopp becoming Roma’s next head coach is not true,” said Marc Kosicke to winwinallsports.

Roma are currently searching for a new manager as current caretaker boss Claudio Ranieri will step down at the end of the season.

La Stampa added that Klopp has requested six signings to strengthen the squad this summer.

The German wants three starters and three back-ups and specifically has requested a centre-back, right-winger and centre-forward.

It remains to be seen just how much truth is in this report, especially as Klopp has said in the past he will not coach in Italy as he doesn’t speak Italian.
