Man Utd optimistic over Page agreement

Man Utd are confident of reaching an agreement with Leicester City to sign teen sensation Louis Page in 2027, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Red Devils pushed to sign the 18-year-old midfielder this summer but they were unable to strike a deal with League One side Leicester.

However, United remain hopeful of signing Page, who has been loosely compared to Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham.

England Under-20 international Page has made 22 appearances for Leicester since emerging through their youth system in August 2025.

Nkunku reportedly snubbed Red Devils move

Former Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku reportedly turned down United in favour of re-joining RB Leipzig on loan, according to German outlet BILD.

BILD claims Nkunku, 28, was on United’s radar as they looked to strengthen their forward line in the summer transfer window.

However, the Frenchman had his heart set on a return to Bundesliga side Leipzig after just one season with Serie A giants AC Milan.

Chelsea signed Nkunku for €60million (£52m) in June 2023 after recording 70 goals and 57 assists in his first spell with Leipzig between 2019 and 2023.

He registered 18 goals and five assists in 62 games for Chelsea before joining Milan for €42m (£36m) last August, with whom he chalked up eight goals and three assists in 35 appearances.

Carrick issued transfer update before Everton draw

Michael Carrick is confident United can go toe-to-toe with their Premier League rivals despite spending less in the transfer market.

United shelled out €173.2m (£148.8m) on Carlos Baleba, Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, while Karl Darlow joined on a free transfer.

In comparison, Manchester City spent €526.20m (£452.1m), Chelsea paid out €406.7m (£349.4m) and Arsenal dished out €227.1m (£195.1m).

Liverpool also spent €269.6m (£231.6m) on new players, while Tottenham Hotspur expended €366.3m (£314.7m) on fresh faces.

However, United boss Carrick insists spending money “doesn’t always have to be the answer” when pursuing the biggest prizes in football.

Asked about United’s modest transfer business, Carrick said ahead of Sunday’s 2-2 draw at Everton: "I certainly feel we can compete [with our rivals].

“I think the challenge is just getting the right dynamics, getting the right balance, getting the right group together, getting the best players in the group to enhance the rest of the group.

“The actual amount of money in the end, I understand it can be a big thing. It doesn't always have to be the answer, but it can be.”

United twice threw away the lead at Everton after stunning goals from Tyrique George and Ainsley Maitland-Niles cancelled out Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko's efforts.
