Huijsen’s dream move

Dean Huijsen is subject to an almighty transfer tug-of-war from the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool – but Romano says the Bournemouth star really wants to move to Real Madrid.

“He’s one of the names on the list of Real Madrid. He’s one of the new centre-backs wanted by Xabi Alonso, who’s been very clear in the first meetings with the club that he wants a new player there because of injuries and because the Club World Cup is very important to him being his first competition,” Romano told his YouTube channel.

“The release clause for Huijsen is £50 million. Today we can add that Real Madrid had a meeting with direct contact to the player and his father. The conversation has been really important. Real Madrid now understand how much priority Huijsen is giving the club. His dream would be to go there.

“It doesn’t mean he’ll reject the other clubs – everything is open. He can’t wait forever. The Premier League clubs are ready to make a move, this week, next week, whenever. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal want to pay the release clause and make an attack with a player.

“The timing of this deal will be very important.”

Wirtz City talks confirmed

Romano confirmed reports that Florian Wirtz has been speaking to Manchester City – but says a move is by no means a given.

“The parents of Florian Wirtz, who are taking care of his future, were in Manchester. There was a meeting with Man City,” he said.

“From Wirtz’s side, they know Bayer Leverkusen have an excellent relationship with City. They know, from what I understand, they are ready to negotiate an agreement, including sending young players to go from City to Leverkusen. For example, James McAfee. He could be one of the names to discuss.

“Don’t forget Bayern. They’re still there and talking to the player’s side. So the race is absolutely open. Being direct competition to Leverkusen in Germany makes it more difficult. So every single detail of this story makes it more difficult.

“Wirtz hasn’t decided anything.”

Reijnders on Pep Guardiola’s shortlist

But Wirtz is not the only player City want to sign. They are also looking to strengthen themselves deeper in midfield.

Romano says: “Tijjani Reijnders is another option for Manchester City. He’s separate from Florian Wirtz. City want to sign a No.8 and a No.10.

“At 8, Reijnders is one of the priority options but it depends on the price. But City are expected to send an official proposal. He’s one of their favourite players.

“In case Wirtz decides to go to Bayern or stay at Leverkusen, another name on the list is Morgan Gibbs-White.”

Cunha to Man Utd: Very positive talks

Finally, Romano dropped an update on Matheus Cunha, explaining that the Brazil international is still likely to leave Wolves for Old Trafford.

“The situation is exactly the same as it was 10 days ago. Man Utd are in very positive talks with Matheus Cunha. Very good conversations, discussing the details with the player. Then they will be able to meet Wolves and discuss the payment structure of the release clause,” Romano said.

“Man Utd wanted to go with Cunha and the conversation is ongoing. They’re absolutely in active conversations.”
