Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid: Why Leeds United could be big winners as €60m transfer completed

Dean Huijsen’s transfer from Bournemouth to Real Madrid is all but complete, and one of the surprise winners from the deal could be Premier League new-boys Leeds United.
Spain international Huijsen is set to complete a big-money move to the Bernabeu side this summer, with everything apparently in place for a €60 million transfer.
Real Madrid have beaten a host of Premier League sides to the signature of the Netherlands-born centre-back, with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all having been in the race for a 20-year-old who has enjoyed a prodigious rise since leaving Juventus for €15m a year ago.
How does all this affect Leeds?
With every transfer, there are naturally winners and losers, and one of the players to get the short end of the stick at Real Madrid with the arrival of Huijsen at the Bernabeu is David Alaba.
The veteran Austria international is set to be edged out of the club, with Fichajes revealing that Alaba will be sold by Los Blancos in the summer. Concerns have been raised primarily over his fitness levels.
While Real Madrid are eyeing a sale, buying out Alaba’s contract and allowing him to depart on a free transfer is a possibility that “isn’t ruled out”.
Step forward Leeds United.

The Elland Road club offer Alaba the perfect next stop in his career, according to data analytics firm SciSports.
Leeds score nearly five stars across the board in the key metrics measured by the experts, which gives the Yorkshire outfit a Club Fit score of 86. This is calculated using a variety of factors, including development, playing time, style and formation.
Daniel Farke will have watched as the three clubs promoted to the Premier League from the Championship struggled terribly in the top-flight this season. One major factor behind this was their inability to defend. Each has conceded more than two goals per game on average.
Alaba, therefore, would be a dream signing given the quality and experience he could lend to the club. And without the pressure of playing midweek games, the 32-year-old’s body would be given a chance to hold up.
Leeds United, get the deal done.
