Chelsea awards 2024-25: Best & worst player, best & worst transfer, top scorer

Chelsea enjoyed a fantastic start to life under Enzo Maresca, although their form has failed off since the beginning of the calendar year and they face an uphill battle to secure Champions League qualification as a result.
A number of stars have performed excellently for the Blues this term, although several big-money signings have flopped.
Below, FootballTransfers runs through our Chelsea awards for the 2024-25 season.
Chelsea’s Player of the Season
Cole Palmer was a strong contender for this award at the start of 2025, but his dip in form means Moises Caicedo is the only legitimate candidate.
The Ecuadorian won both the Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year awards at Chelsea’s end of season ceremony and that achievement was richly deserved thanks to a sublime season at Stamford Bridge.
Caicedo has been one of the best midfielders in world football this campaign and he has arguably already proven that Chelsea were right to spend a whopping €116 million to sign him in 2023.

Chelsea’s Flop of the Season
Christopher Nkunku has been a major disappointment for Chelsea this campaign, but the Blues’ flop of the season has been handed to Robert Sanchez.
The Spaniard’s form has improved since he regained his starting berth from Filip Jorgensen in March, however he still leads the Premier League for the highest number of errors leading directly to a goal this year.
He hasn’t been a reassuring presence in between the sticks and despite his shot-stopping ability, Sanchez has been extremely error-prone and it could cost Chelsea a place in next season’s Champions League.
Chelsea’s Best Transfer
Chelsea spent a whopping €276m on new signings during the 2024-25 campaign, yet that investment has yielded very little success, which has been a common theme in recent years.
Pedro Neto has been a decent signing, but he hasn’t justified his €60m price tag, Renato Veiga was sent out on loan in January, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Marc Guiu and Mathis Amougou have barely played, Omari Kellyman, Aaron Anselmino and Caleb Wiley haven’t played at all and we’ll get onto Joao Felix soon.
As a result, we’ve selected Tosin Adarabioyo as Chelsea’s best transfer of the season. He arrived on a Bosman deal from Fulham and while he isn’t a regular in the Premier League, the 27-year-old has played a key leadership role at Stamford Bridge and he’s helped the Blues reach the Europa Conference League final.
Chelsea’s Worst Transfer
Joao Felix has undoubtedly been Chelsea’s worst signing of the season and the fact he was signed in the first place was an extreme lapse of judgement.
Chelsea only agreed to bring Felix back to the club on a permanent deal in order to sell Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid, but he was never going to coexist with Cole Palmer in west London.
As a result, Felix started just three Premier League games before being sent out on loan to AC Milan in January. He has performed similarly poorly at San Siro and Chelsea may struggle to sell him this summer.
Chelsea’s Top Scorer
Cole Palmer is currently Chelsea’s top scorer during the 2024-25 season with 15 goals across all competitions.
He has scored all 15 of his goals in the Premier League, with none in the Europa Conference League, Carabao Cup or FA Cup.
