Manchester United likely won't sack Erik ten Hag this summer due to a lack of interested potential replacements, according to a report.

The Red Devils are enduring a dire campaign and the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag is reaching fever pitch after back-to-back late collapses against Brentford and Chelsea.

In addition to lacklustre performances and poor results, the Dutchman has been doing himself no favours in the media, insisting, for example, that his team deserved to win against the Blues after 'dominating' them.

Despite all of this, it has been claimed that new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS camp would like to avoid having to sack Ten Hag, who would be due a hefty compensation in the event of his firing. Ten Hag himself, of course, is also keen to continue at Man Utd.

No alternatives?

One of the reasons why Man Utd don't want to sack Ten Hag, according to The I, is partially because there simply aren't any viable and interested alternatives out there.

It is claimed that Julian Nagelsmann, one of Man Utd's options, is open to guiding the German national team beyond Euro 2024 this summer, meaning that he is leaning towards a contract extension with the DFB.

As for Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who is one of the top targets for the Red Devils as revealed by FootballTransfers, and Graham Potter, it is not clear whether they would be keen to take the reins at Old Trafford.

England boss Gareth Southgate, meanwhile, has no intention of getting involved with the mess at Man Utd, but links to the England boss had already been played down in recent weeks anyway.

It seems that even if Ratcliffe and company were to want to pull the trigger on Ten Hag, they would be taking a massive and likely unnecessary risk given the dearth of potential replacements.
