Bernardo Silva has decided to QUIT Manchester City this summer and has his heart set on a transfer to Barcelona, according to a report from Spain.

Silva, 29, signed a new City contract last summer, extending his terms to 2026, which was said to contain a release clause of €50 million.

That figure might be achievable for the cash-strapped Catalans if they manage to offload some players this summer.

Ferran Torres and Raphinha are among the players mentioned as potential outgoings for the off-season with sporting director Deco working within extremely tight financial parameters.

The Portugal playmaker has got family in Barcelona and recently his international team-mate Joao Felix revealed that Bernardo had already resolved to wear Lionel Messi’s famous No.10 shirt at Camp Nou.

Felix, on loan at Barca from Atletico Madrid, also called on his current club to make the signing happen.

"If I were Deco for a day, I would sign Bernardo Silva without a doubt,” he told JijantesFC.

"Let them bring him. Have you seen him play? He's even better as a person. He's from [Joao] Cancelo's generation. Now players last until they are 35-36 years old.

“His sister-in-law is here, [he has asked me] about how things are here, the weather, tax issues... I told him it's all right for him to come.

“I don't think Manchester City will make it easy,” Felix continued. “For €50m I would bring him, even for €60-70 million."

PSG also interested in wantaway Bernardo Silva

However, complicating Barcelona’s interest is the presence of Paris Saint-Germain.

Luis Enrique’s side are set for a revamp this summer with Kylian Mbappe joining Real Madrid on a free transfer.

Radio Catalunya reported on Friday that PSG tried to buy Bernardo last summer but their efforts amounted to nothing.

However, they could well be back and offer the schemer an escape route from Manchester.

Having joined City from Monaco as a French Ligue 1 title winner for €70m back in 2017, Silva has been an undisputed hit at the Etihad.

He has won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, the Champions League and the Club World Cup among other honours.
