Alexander Isak has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal as the Gunners look to sign a new number nine, but he has admitted that he "hasn't thought" about a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz has been deployed as a central striker in recent weeks, while Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah remain senior options, but Mikel Arteta’s side are actively pursuing a new forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nketiah is expected to depart the Emirates Stadium on a permanent deal, with Crystal Palace and Brentford both interested, and there are several replacements lined up.

Viktor Gyokeres is seen as the leading candidate to join Arsenal ahead of the 2024-25 season, although Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney, Benjamin Sesko and Isak have all been linked with a move to north London too.

Newcastle United reportedly may need to sell one of their key players in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, which has led to rumours that Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman or Isak will be offloaded by the Magpies.

Despite links with a move to Arsenal, Isak isn’t paying attention to such reports. While on international duty with Sweden, the 24-year-old told Expressen: “It doesn't affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows.

“I see it as just such a thing. Everyone knows that summer is coming and if things show up, things can happen, but I actually haven't even thought about it.”

Alexander Isak to Arsenal?

Earlier this year, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand urged the Gunners to sign Isak this summer. He told his Vibe with Five podcast: “Alexander Isak was running in behind constantly [against Manchester City], if I’m Arsenal, I’m going all out and buying him.”

The former Man Utd defender was then asked whether Isak would be too expensive for Arsenal. He replied: “Why? They [Newcastle] can’t spend… they’re struggling with [profit and sustainability rules].

“I think there’s another jump up before [he goes to a club like Real Madrid]. I saw somewhere they have to sell before they can buy again.”
