Liverpool are big fans of Jamal Musiala, but signing him could prove too challenging, according to a report.

The Bayern Munich wonderkid is now in outstanding form after a poor start to the season. Musiala has notched five goals and four assists in his last five Bundesliga outings, finally showing all of his stunning brilliance and devasting effectiveness again.

Unsurprisingly, then, speculation surrounding the 21-year-old's future is once again rampant. Out of contract in 2026, there has thus far been little progress made on the part of Bayern in getting the youngster to commit his future to the club long-term. Musiala, who grew up in England, has made no secret of his desire to eventually play in the Premier League.

Man City have recently been heavily linked with the attacking midfielder due to Kevin de Bruyne's uncertain future amid fresh links with a Saudi move. Liverpool are also seemingly always in the conversation when his name comes up. Outside of England, Real Madrid are long-time admirers of Musiala.

Is a Liverpool transfer realistic?

Liverpool expert Neil Jones has now provided a fresh update on the Reds' interest in Musiala, confirming that they are big fans of him. However, the journalist does not believe that a move to Anfield is on the cards anytime soon. “At 21, he has his best years ahead of him, and he absolutely has the potential to be one of the very best in his position," Jones told CaughtOffside.

"I know that from a Bayern point of view, they are desperate to retain him, and I also know that pretty much every other top club in Europe, Liverpool included, would want to be in the conversation should he leave. I don’t imagine Manchester City or Real Madrid would be sitting on their hands there!"

"Liverpool’s stance, whenever I’ve asked, has always been a ‘well, yes, of course we like him’ but as far as I’m aware there is nothing more concrete than that, despite the links. If I were a gambler, I’d bet on him staying at Bayern – even if I would love to see him at Anfield!”
