Tottenham have now officially unveiled the teenager and Fabrizio Romano has revealed just how Spurs managed to hijack a transfer many - including those at Barcelona - thought was done.

What did Romano say?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said of the Bergvall saga: "Tottenham started working behind the scenes, approaching the player. Then, last week, around Thursday, Friday, Tottenham planned for a mission, a trip of Lucas Bergvall together with his family at their training ground on Monday."

"He had a chance to speak to the directors of Tottenham, to the manager Ange Postecoglou and also Dejan Kulusevski was there, the Swedish player who had a very important and influential conversation with Lucas Bergvall to explain how it works at Tottenham and how important this step could be for him."

"Then, the player travels to Barcelona on Tuesday and Wednesday, spending two days there. [He had] lunch with the Barcelona board, dinner with the Barcelona board, visits to the training ground. Barcelona, during the meetings they had with Lucas Bergvall, feel that the player wanted to go there."

"Barca were super confident because they got a very concrete message from the player's side...Then on Thursday, Deadline Day, Lucas Bergvall's camp informs Tottenham that he has decided to join Spurs...They signed Lucas Bergvall. How? [By] offering €10m guaranteed to Djurgardens plus add-ons, so more than Barcelona."

"[They also offered] a different contract to the player, but also the opportunity to be immediately part of the first team. Tottenham, when they presented their project to Lucas Bergvall, used the example of Pape Sarr...They want to repeat that kind of development process."
