Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah continues to be subject to transfer rumours linking him with a summer switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Salah was attacked by the big-spending league last summer, and with just 18 months left on his deal at Anfield, there is persistent speculation that he could be on the move once the season is over. Jurgen Klopp’s impending departure from Anfield has added to this feeling.

ESPN reports, meanwhile, that Al-Ittihad are weighing up the possibility of a blockbuster summer transfer offer that could be worth up to €120 million. With Karim Benzema’s relationship with head coach Marcelo Garllardo having broken down, the Saudi giants are seeking another superstar player and Salah, as a hero of the Arab world, is seen as the ideal option.

Salah is set to leave the Saudi Pro League disappointed, with Football Insider stating that the Reds legend has pulled what is described as a “shock U-turn” in his thinking.

It is claimed that “well-placed sources” have stated that Salah “wants to keep playing at the top level and challenge for football’s most prestigious honours”.

Naturally, this is positive news for Liverpool as it would suggest that Salah is open to signing an extension with the club.

Salah adds to Liverpool concerns

The Reds face a period of uncertainty with Klopp’s departure at the end of the season. The German’s decision to step down has cast doubts over the future of numerous star names at Anfield, with Virgil van Dijk and even Trent Alexander-Arnold joining Salah as players who were tipped to potentially leave in 2024 as an era draws to an end on Merseyside.

Although Salah will turn 32 in the summer, he is showing no signs of slowing down, with his 14 Premier League goals and eight assists having Liverpool firmly in the race to win the title.
