Chelsea issued an emphatic response to Bayern's January interest in Mykhailo Mudryk, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Ukraine international has failed to set the world alight since his big-money switch to Stamford Bridge a year ago. Chelsea hijacked Arsenal's transfer of the then-Shakhtar Donetsk star and showed themselves willing to shell out as much as €100 million to secure his services.

Things haven't gone to plan for Mudryk in London, however. The 23-year-old did not score a single goal until October 2023 and he has so far totalled just four goals and five assists in 42 outings for the Blues. It has been a very underwhelming start to life at Chelsea and many believe that he is simply not yet ready for Premier League football.

As such, a loan move away could have done the winger a world of good in order to help him get his confidence and match sharpness up, especially in light of the fact that he has lost his starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino's side. Chelsea, however, vehemently disagree.

Chelsea's resounding 'no'

In January, a chance to loan out Mudryk was presented to the Blues. Bayern Munich were scouring the winger market late in the window after Kingsley Coman suffered an injury and the Ukrainian was one of the options considered by the German giants.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea did not even consider the possibility of letting Mudryk go temporarily, which ultimately culminated in Bayern bringing forward Bryan Zaragoza's summer move from Granada in exchange for a few extra million euros.

“Before bringing in Bryan Zaragoza, Bayern, they asked about the possibility of signing Mykhaylo Mudryk from Chelsea," Romano said on his Here We Go Podcast. "He is a player appreciated by Bayern and they feel in this moment he is not playing on a regular basis and so they tried. But from Chelsea, there was not even a discussion and in hours Bayern knew it was not possible to discuss for Mudryk.”
