Liverpool have not been informed of any interest from Arsenal in England U21 midfielder Curtis Jones, despite rumours of the opposite, FootballTransfers in conjunction with Anfield Watch can reveal.

Jones, 22, became an integral member of Jurgen Klopp’s side in 2023 and he started 2024 with a goal in the Reds’ 4-2 win over Newcastle United on New Years’ Day.

Injury issues, a red card suspension and competition for places has meant that Jones has only racked up 577 Premier League minutes so far this season, but he has started two of Liverpool’s last three league games.

Following his impressive form in recent weeks, reports emerged of interest from Arsenal, with speculation arising that Jones grew up as a boyhood Gunners fan.

Anfield Watch and FootballTransfers understand these reports are wide of the mark, with Jones focused on earning a regular starting spot at Liverpool instead.

Furthermore, it’s highly unlikely that Liverpool would sell an important first-team player to a direct rival even if potential suitors emerge.

Liverpool to offer Curtis Jones a contract extension

In addition to wide-of-the-mark Arsenal rumours, Liverpool are also set to reward Jones with a new contract offer, as per Anfield Watch.

His existing deal runs until 2027, but Klopp’s side are keen to renew terms until 2029 in order to secure the future of one of their star players.

Jones has made 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals and providing a further three assists.

He helped England U21s to European Championship glory last summer and could make a late push for an inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad if he continues to impress at club level.

However, Jones will face competition from the likes of Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Conor Gallagher, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips and James Maddison for a place on the plane to Germany.
