Bayern Munich are interested in Fikayo Tomori and have reignited their interest in Trevoh Chalobah, according to German media.

The Bavarian giants are keen to strengthen their side, particularly in defence. Linked with Ronald Araujo and Jonathan Tah, neither will be available in January and this has forced head coach Thomas Tuchel, sporting director Christoph Freund and the rest of the Bayern hierarchy to pursue different targets.

According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, two players who were on the books at Chelsea during Tuchel's time there have now appeared (or re-appeared) on Bayern's radar: Fikayo Tomori and Trevoh Chalobah. The former departed Stamford Bridge on loan four days before Tuchel was appointed, while the latter featured prominently under the German.

On Wednesday, the journalist reported that Bayern have enquired at AC Milan about Tomori's availability. His current injury and the Rossoneri's unwillingness to sell make a January deal unlikely, but Plettenberg claims that the Bundesliga giants could be in for the 26-year-old in the future.

Chalobah interest revived

On Thursday, he revealed that Bayern have reignited their interest in Trevoh Chalobah. The Chelsea outcast is expected to depart Stamford Bridge this month, having not featured at all this season due to injury.

Bayern were heavily interested in him in the summer, and he was keen on the move, but a deal couldn't be struck. His fitness problem caused the Bavarians to cool their interest, but as he is now close to match fitness again, there is 'new movement,' claims Plettenberg.

A loan is being considered, but the journalist was quick to acknowledge that a potential deal is not a 'hot topic' yet. Intriguingly, Bayern see the versatile defender as an option for the right-back position even though he has mostly featured at centre-back for the Blues. Chalobah can also play as a holding midfielder, a position Tuchel is desperate to strengthen.
