Fabrizio Romano has issued an important update on Leroy Sane's future as speculation about a potential move ramps up.

The German is out of contract at Bayern Munich in 2025 and is one of several big-name stars facing an uncertain future with the Bavarians. Sane has arguably been Europe's most in-form winger this season and this has, unsurprisingly, attracted the attention of other big-hitters.

The summer signing of Harry Kane has radically altered the wage structure at Bayern, meaning that several of the club's biggest performers now expect to be brought in line with the new standard, something that the usually shrewd Bavarian giants are not too keen to accept in some cases, the underperforming Joshua Kimmich being one example.

This isn't the case for Sane, however, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the perennial Bundesliga champions intend to make an "important" contract proposal to fend off interest in a player who has caught the eye of the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid and ex-club Man City, if reports are to be believed.

What did Romano say?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert said of the 27-year-old: "The situation of Leroy Sane [is] one of the most interesting situations around Europe in terms of contracts because Bayern have many contract situations to discuss internally and with representatives of the players."

"Leroy Sane is out of contract in the summer of 2025. This is for Bayern a crucial moment because they need to discuss a new contract with

Sane and from what I understand, the idea of Bayern is to make a very important proposal to Sane. So, the new contract offered to the player will be a longer contract obviously but also with an increased salary."

"So, an important salary structure, it will include add-ons. So, Bayern are preparing a formal proposal for Leroy Sane and then [will] try to convince him to sign a new deal. There's interest from England, yes, but it's not something advanced yet and this is why the priority for Bayern is now to offer him a new contract."
