Jose Mourinho will be out of contract in the summer and a move into international football could be tempting, claims a report.

The legendary coach's time at Roma appears to be coming to an end one way or another. Indeed, given his side's poor results in Serie A this season, there have been suggestions that the capital club could pull the trigger even before his contract ends, with Antonio Conte primed to take over next season.

Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, reportedly being offered a massive salary of €50 million per year by an unnamed club to take over next season. These rumours have been fueled by the Chelsea legend himself when he recently revealed that he is "convinced that I will work there."

Mourinho to replace Southgate?

That's at least what TEAMtalk is claiming. It is asserted that the 60-year-old would be open to entering into international management with the English FA considering him an option to replace Gareth Southgate after Euro 2024, for which the Three Lions qualified thanks to a 3-1 win over Italy.

England and Portugal are the only countries Mourinho would consider coaching, the report states. Moreover, it is said that the Portuguese would prefer to remain in Europe at this stage despite the above-mentioned quote of his saying he will coach in Saudi Arabia.

ENGLAND IN: Which teams have qualified for Euro 2024?

Mourinho was already considered by the FA all the way back in 2007 after leaving Chelsea as the most successful manager in club history.

If this deal were to materialise, Mourinho would take charge of England's qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup in North America as well as the tournament itself. Could the Special One deliver England's second World Cup exactly 60 years after the first?
