Benjamin Sesko's agent has confirmed that he held transfer talks with AC Milan amid interest from several Premier League giants.

One of Europe's most sought-after commodities, the Slovenian striker went down the well-trodden path of moving from RB Salzburg to sister club RB Leipzig in the summer. What Sesko perhaps didn't anticipate was the fact that he would only play second fiddle in Saxony.

After scoring 18 goals for Salzburg last term, many perhaps thought that the talented 20-year-old would have an Erling Haaland-esque impact in the Bundesliga, but he has solely been used as a substitute so far this summer - though he has scored six goals in 12 outings - with fellow big-money summer signing Lois Openda the undisputed starting striker.

Sesko had many suitors before his switch to Leipzig was made official. Man Utd had tried to sign him in 2022 and remain interested with a view to making him Rasmus Hojlund's partner. However, they are not the only ones still keen despite his recent move.

Agent confirms talks

AC Milan, looking for a long-term successor to veteran Frenchman Olivier Giroud, are keeping a very close eye on his situation at Leipzig and so are Arsenal and Chelsea, according to Calciomercato.

Indeed, speaking to Sportitalia, Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic confirmed that he had been in talks with AC Milan before the Leipzig move. "I can confirm that in the past when [Paolo] Maldini was there, I already spoke with Milan about Sesko. But at that moment, the transfer was not possible, it wasn't the right time."

"In the future, you never know. Milan is a great club. At the moment, Sesko feels very good at Leipzig where he is continuing his growth path." Milan could make another approach in the summer of 2024 should Sesko fail to land a starting spot, but Arsenal and Chelsea could be there too, as both are in the market for a star number nine.
