Now, The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel has reported that Toney is “coveting” a transfer to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Mokbel’s report states that: “Questions linger over whether Arsenal need someone who can score 25 to 30 goals a season.

“It is a deficiency Arteta and Arsenal's recruitment team are taking very seriously. One name springs to mind: Ivan Toney. A striker Arsenal are coveting, big time.

“It is understood that Toney is coveting Arsenal, too. On the face of it, Toney is a perfect fit for Arsenal. The goals are a clear selling point, but Toney's character and physicality tick a lot of boxes for Arteta.”

Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have all expressed their desire to sign Toney, FootballTransfers understand, with the Brentford man in high demand as he gears up for a return to the pitch next year.

What is Toney’s transfer value

According to FootballTransfers’ in-house Estimated Transfer Value algorithm, Toney is currently worth €29.4m, but that has fallen from a peak of €36.5m in March 2023, which was before his ban.

However, despite that ETV, Brentford are set to demand around €70m to sanction a sale, as per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Bees are aware that Toney is wanted by some of the Premier League’s biggest and richest clubs. But, his contract is due to expire in 2025, meaning next year is likely to be the London side’s final chance to extract a fee for the Englishman.
