Liverpool are eyeing Real Madrid's Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, according to Spanish media.

The Egyptian club legend continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia after Al-Ittihad saw their lucrative approaches for Salah knocked back in the summer.

The Saudi giants were reportedly willing to offer as much as €200 million and new reports claim that they could go even higher in their bid to lure the 31-year-old to the Pro League. A lot has been made of the Reds' refusal to entertain the astronomical offers for the veteran, but despite their standing firm, the expectation is that they will once again have their resolve tested in January or the summer.

Should Salah leave, Liverpool will have money to spend on a replacement and many names have been linked with an Anfield switch to succeed Salah, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. However, Jurgen Klopp and company are also looking at one of the latter's teammates.

Reds eye Rodrygo

That's according to Fichajes, which claims that Rodrygo has been added to Liverpool's recruitment team's shortlist of potential Salah replacements. The Spanish outlet claims that the 22-year-old's Real Madrid future is up in the air and that Los Blancos would be willing to listen to offers should the opportunity to sign Kylian Mbappe present itself.

The versatile attacker played like a man possessed at the end of last season but has struggled to recapture that form in the early parts of the current campaign. Despite having more than enough chances to score, the Brazilian has only found the net once thus far.

However, despite Real's apparent willingness to let him leave, he would still cost a pretty penny, though that is not something that will concern Liverpool in the event of Salah leaving. The report claims that Los Blancos would demand north of €100m for Rodrygo and that the Reds 'could face difficulties in completing the operation.'
