Crystal Palace have included a revised release clause in Michael Olise's new contract following his aborted Chelsea transfer, according to a report.

The Eagles star looked set for a switch to Stamford Bridge during the transfer window after the Blues had triggered his £35 million (€41m) release clause, bypassing Crystal Palace in the negotiations.

But the Frenchman ultimately decided to snub the Blues in one of the most surprising twists of the summer. Instead, the highly-rated 21-year-old put pen to paper on a new and improved four-year contract at Selhurst Park.

Palace boss Steve Parish handed his star man a "substantial" raise in a bid to keep him at the club after losing Wilfried Zaha, according to the Evening Standard. Moreover, the report goes on to say, Parish and Olise's camp settled on a new release clause for the winger, though the exact amount wasn't disclosed.

It's a gamble given that Chelsea remain admirers of Olise, but it is likely something that the player's representatives insisted on. The clause becomes active next summer.

Who needs Olise?

After the deal to sign Olise fell through, Chelsea instead turned their attention to Manchester City youngster Cole Palmer, whom they managed to snap up for €47m. Therefore, it is unlikely that the Blues will again make a move for Olise unless Todd Boehly and company decide to go on another outrageous spending spree.

One club that may be forced to look at someone like the Frenchman could be Manchester United. Besides not living up to his ridiculous €100m price tag, Antony is now being investigated over domestic violence allegations levelled at him by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

Erik ten Hag may eventually be forced to give up on his Brazilian winger and Olise would be an ideal candidate to replace the disgraced former Ajax man. Liverpool could also use Olise should Mohamed Salah complete his big-money move to Al-Ittihad.
