Arsenal midfielder Jorginho was mocked on social media by Gooners and ordinary football fans after a shocking error in the North London derby.

Jorginho was introduced at half time for the injured Declan Rice but it wasn’t long until he was guilty of a catastrophic mistake.

With Arsenal leading Tottenham 2-1 thanks to Bukayo Saka’s double, Jorginho picked up the ball in the middle of the pitch.

But he dallied on the ball, leading to it getting stuck in between his feet. This allowed James Maddison to steal the ball from him and slip Son Heung-Min through on goal.

The South Korea international buried his finish past David Raja - his second of the game, also - to earn a 2-2 draw for Tottenham.

Jorginho fell to the ground with his head in his hands, aware at the disaster that he had just caused.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also put his palms over his face on the touchline the second he saw Jorginho lose the ball.

The Italy international joined Arsenal from Chelsea for a nominal fee in January of this year.

However, after a bright start, he has fallen behind big summer signing Rice in the midfield pecking order.

Arsenal fans will be hoping this mistake isn’t critical in the Gunners’ hopes of winning a first league title since 2004.

Jorginho, though, received a torrent of criticism online.
