Manchester United are in the market for a new goalkeeper, and they have two players on their shortlist.

Earlier today, Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabancuolglu reported that Erik ten Hag’s side would pay €7 million to secure the services of Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce.

While, according to Florian Plettenberg, Benfica keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos has received an offer from United.

Vlachodimos has reportedly agreed a contract until 2028, and the Red Devils would be paying around €15m for his services.

United are currently with an alternative to new signing Andre Onana - who came in to replace the outgoing David de Gea.

Why do Man Utd need another goalkeeper?

Man Utd are in the market for a backup to Andre Onana as Jack Butland, who was second choice last season, departed the club when his contract expired in the summer.

While Dean Henderson, who spent last term on loan at Nottingham Forest and has featured on the bench this season, is expected to leave on a permanent basis before the window closes.

Henderson is expected to fetch a sum of around £20m, with the money potentially going into other areas of the squad, such as the midfield and defence, which Ten Hag has earmarked for improvement since the beginning of the summer.

Man Utd’s progress on the transfer front has been painfully slow, as evidenced by the glacial movement on the Sofyan Amrabat deal.

This has been largely due to the uncertainty generated by the club’s ownership with the takeover process having stalled.
