Liverpool have finally agreed a deal with Bayern Munich that will see Ryan Gravenberch move to Anfield.

The Reds' midfield revolution is nearing its completion at last. Following a comprehensive overhaul in Jurgen Klopp's engine room that saw captain Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and several experienced fringe players depart, Liverpool have had to dip into the market for a whole host of new midfielders.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Wataru Endo have already joined and Ryan Gravenberch appears to be next. Liverpool had already targeted the Dutchman early on in the summer when it became clear that Jude Bellingham was heading to Real Madrid, but they had no luck in convincing Bayern to sell.

The Bavarians made it clear that they had no intention to let go of the 21-year-old, but the exigencies of the market have now forced them to budge from their position.

Liverpool to sign Gravenberch

With Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel desperate to add another big-money midfielder and Gravenberch still not getting game time, the Bavarians have yielded after all.

The Athletic's David Ornstein reports that the two clubs have agreed on a €40 million transfer, which has now also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Gravenberch is keen on the move given his lack of minutes at Bayern and will sign a long-term contract. Indeed, the 21-year-old is already on his way to Liverpool for his medical.

The Dutchman is widely seen as being a diamond in the rough. Data experts SciSports rate him as the player with the highest potential currently hailing from the Netherlands. Former Tottenham and Real Madrid man Rafael van de Vaart once claimed that Gravenberch is better than Bellingham 'at everything.'

Yet there are question marks regarding this move because Gravenberch is not a natural defensive midfielder, which means that he likely won't solve Liverpool's biggest midfield issue. Only time will tell if this is the right move.
