Twitter has ripped into Electronic Arts for their cover design of EA Sports FC24, the successor to the successful FIFA series.

After FIFA 23, the next iteration of the famous video game series will not feature the iconic FIFA moniker due to the fact that licensing the name of football's governing body has always cost a pretty penny.

Instead, the next version will simply be called EA Sports FC24, but it will feature the same league, club and player licenses as the previous instalments; it will just have a different name.

FIFA games have long since garnered a reputation as being mere cash-grabs with each new game in the series being essentially the same as the one that came before. Indeed, when playing FIFA 23, for example, one can't help but feel that the game could have been a lot more polished had more time, effort and care been put into developing it.

This trend looks set to continue with FC24 if the newly-released cover of the game is anything to go by. It features a bunch of iconic players past and present whose faces look, well, not particularly impressive.

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka in the top right-hand corner and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba below him look unrecognisable. Ronaldinho, meanwhile, looks like his character model was made for a Playstation 2 game.
