Fabrizio Romano has confirmed FootballTransfers' reporting on Liverpool's Federico Chiesa stance.

The Reds have repeatedly been linked with the Juventus winger. Their interest was first piqued in 2019 when Chiesa, then of Fiorentina, began making international waves. In 2021, Liverpool were again said to be keen on the winger, but nothing materialised.

Chiesa joined Juventus on loan in 2020 and was finally signed permanently last summer, with the Bianconeri paying €42.5 million for the 2021 European champion. Now, however, the Italian giants are looking for potential buyers for Chiesa in order to boost their finances, as FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on July 10.

In that same piece, we stated that Liverpool have not reignited their interest in the 25-year-old and that a summer move is unlikely. This has now been reiterated by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

What did Romano say?

Corriere dello Sport have claimed that Liverpool are once again eyeing Chiesa and journalist Marco Guidi has said that the player would be 'inclined' to join Liverpool.

Fabrizio Romano, however, has rubbished these assertions and backed up our reporting. "I’m not aware of any negotiation with Liverpool," the Italian relayed to CaughtOffside.

There was interest in the player from big-spenders Aston Villa, but they have since moved on, now trying to strike a deal for Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby after an almighty bidding war with Saudi side Al-Nassr.

Juventus would want at least €60-70m for the attacker which is at odds with what most clubs would be prepared to pay for Chiesa. Indeed, since a cruciate ligament rupture in January 2022, the Italian's stocks have steadily fallen.

His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) now stands at just €24.7m, down from €57m prior to his spell on the sidelines. Chiesa managed just two goals and five assists across 21 Serie A outings for Juventus last term.
