This puts Arsenal in a tricky position where they must decide whether to sell some important stars or risk losing them on a free transfer.

This speaks volumes for the excellent work Mikel Arteta, Edu and the club have done in recent years in ensuring top stars are not allowed to run down their contracts.

What Arsenal players are out of contract in 2024?

Jorginho is the most high-profile player at Arsenal whose deal expires in 2024.

The Italy midfielder only joined Arsenal in January 2023 on an 18-month contract from Chelsea. There is an option in his contract to extend for a further year so a lot will depend how his 2023-24 season goes.

This time next year he will be in his 33rd year and so the two parties may choose to go their separate ways.

Nicolas Pepe also sees his contract expire in 2024 and it is certain he will no longer be at the club come 2024-25.

The Ivory Coast international has been a very expensive flop ever since arriving from Lille for a club-record £72 million.

Arsenal will try to sell him this summer first, having loaned him out in recent years.

Rob Holding will see his contract run out in 2024 and his future is also in doubt.

Holding showed in the closing stages of last season when deputising for the injured William Saliba that Arsenal need to upgrade.

The Gunners could look to sell this summer but there is also a club option to extend.

There are three more players whose contracts expire in 2024. These are Mohamed Elneny, Cedric Soares and Runar Alex Runarsson

All three players will not be Arsenal players come 2024-25 and could be let go a year before their deals run out if there are offers.
