Liverpool are currently the most successful club in English football, with 69 trophies to their name, three more than their arch-rivals Manchester United (66). This success has largely been down to the work of some incredible managers.
The Reds have also been the most dominant English force in European and international competition, with 14 trophies in global tournaments, including winning the Champions League on six occasions. In fact, the next best tally of European and international trophies from an English club is nine - held by Chelsea.
The majority of their success on the continent came in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with four European Cup victories in less than 10 years during that period (1976/77, 1977/78, 1980/81 and 1983/84).

As of March 2024, Jurgen Klopp has the best win percentage in Liverpool's history, having won 61.2% of his games in charge.
He is just ahead of Kenny Dalglish (in his first spell as manager), who took over after Liverpool's spell of European dominance. He did win three First Division titles and two FA Cup’s during his time in charge, however.
In total, Liverpool have had 19 different permanent managers in their history. Dalglish is the only man ever to enjoy two spells in charge of the club.

Who is the current Liverpool manager?
Jurgen Klopp is the current Liverpool manager. He was appointed in October 2015 following Brendan Rodgers’ sacking at the club. Klopp had previously spent seven years in charge of Mainz (between 2001 and 2008) and seven years in charge of Borussia Dortmund (2008-2015).
Rodgers had come within inches of bringing a first Premier League trophy back to Anfield during the 2013/14 campaign, but fell short after a late season collapse.
After finishing sixth the following year, Rodgers was dismissed after a disappointing start to the 2015/16 season. Klopp finished eighth in his first campaign at the helm, but eventually guided the Reds to their first Premier League title after a historic 2020/21 season.
Klopp has helped Liverpool reach three Champions League finals during his tenure, with the Reds falling to defeat against Real Madrid in 2018 and 2021, but tasting victory versus Tottenham Hotspur in 2019.
His last season in charge will be the 2023-24 season, with Klopp announcing his departure at the end of that campaign.
