Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo has revealed he may return to Sunderland following an exceptional loan spell at the club.

The 20-year-old netted 13 goals and bagged three assists in the regular Championship season, and helped Tony Mowbray's side reach the play-offs with a final day wonderstrike against Preston North End.

Sunderland will face Luton Town in the play-off semi-finals, and are just three games away from returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2017.

Amad's glistening form has played a key role in Sunderland's immense season, but his future at parent club Man Utd remains unknown.

The Red Devils splashed €95 million on Brazilian winger Antony last summer, while Jadon Sancho has also featured regularly on the flanks since Christmas.

With competition rife at Old Trafford, Amad may be forced to look elsewhere for game time yet again, and Sunderland fans will be buoyed by his recent comments.

What has Amad said?

Following their 3-0 victory against Preston, Amad was asked about the prospect of returning to Sunderland and told the media: "We’ll see and maybe I’ll come back."

This has given hope to the Sunderland supporters, who are desperate for the young Ivorian to remain at the club.

Amad was recently named as Sunderland's greatest ever loanee by fan website Roker Report, with Shay Given his only competitor for that title, according to the site.

Amad's form saw him nominated for the 2022/23 Championship Young Player of the Year award, alongside Bristol City's Alex Scott and Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney. However, it was midfielder Scott who emerged victorious.
