The regular demonstrations tell you all you need to know about Manchester United fans’ feeling towards their owners, the Glazers – but they might just have been given a new reason to protest.

While the Glazers continue to explore at least a partial sale of the club, one member of the usually distant American family has been making his presence known with recent trips across the Atlantic.

Avram Glazer, who is based in Florida, flew over to watch Man Utd beat Newcastle in February’s Carabao Cup final, before returning to Wembley for this month’s Women’s FA Cup final between United and Chelsea – and his visits appear to have impacted the club’s finances…

According to The Athletic, Glazer travelled to England on both occasions by private jet – at a cost of £250,000 each time.

However, Glazer is said to have made an even more expensive trip earlier in the season, when he took his family to the 2022 World Cup.

The report adds that the 62-yeare-old’s visit to Qatar was also paid for by Man Utd as a ‘business expense’.

The race to buy Man Utd drags on...

Man Utd are currently the subject of interest from Sir Jim Ratcliffe – the founder of chemicals conglomerate INEOS, and a lifelong United supporter – and prominent Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani.

The Glazers – who took overall control of United back in 2005 – are believed to value the club at around £6bn.

Ratcliffe – who was recently named as the second-richest person in the UK – seems to be the favourite to buy a majority stake in United, who were first put on the market back in November.
