Chelsea player Christian Pulisic could be key to the Blues beating Manchester United to the signature of Victor Osimhen.

With Financial Fair Play regulations preventing Chelsea from repeating their €600 million spending spree of this season in the future, their bloated squad could actually come in handy. Todd Boehly and company are hoping to raise some funds in the summer through sales and one player in particular could be invaluable to the Blues' upcoming business.

American national team star Christian Pulisic has struggled to match the exhilarating form he showed at Borussia Dortmund since his switch to Stamford Bridge and the Chelsea hierarchy may try to cash in on the 24-year-old sooner than many would have expected when he first rocked up in England.

Indeed, Pulisic, like many of his teammates, has struggled this season, rarely starting in the Premier League and recording just two goal contributions across 21 top-flight outings. He is still a talented player, however, and with just one year left on his current deal, a sale is not just an attractive proposition to Chelsea but also to some big European sides.

Pulisic in Italy?

Italian media already linked Pulisic with a move to Serie A a few months ago, and English media is now also reporting that there is concrete interest in the American talisman on the peninsula.

The two clubs said to be monitoring the oft-injured winger are Napoli and Juventus. The links to the recent Serie A winners will be incredibly interesting to a Chelsea hierarchy battling with Manchester United to secure the signature of Victor Osimhen.

In fact, the initial reports by the Italian media claimed that Pulisic could be included in a swap deal (plus a transfer fee, obviously) for Osimhen, and the Daily Mail has now made similar insinuations.

This would make the departure of their Nigerian superstar much more palatable to Napoli, but they will nevertheless try to squeeze as much money out of a potential deal as possible.
