Erling Haaland is regarded as one of the elite players in world football today, with the Norway international having boasted a prolific scoring record wherever he has been.

Since making a move to Manchester City in the summer of 2022 from Borussia Dortmund, he has stepped up a level to become a superstar, drawing attention for his exploits from all over the world.

Indeed, his agent Rafaela Pimenta has even boasted that the Norway international, who is 22 years old, could become the first player to be sold for over £1 billion in the transfer market.

Of course, Haaland is elite at many aspects of the game, but one particular area where he has earned acclaim has been from the penalty spot.

It was, therefore, a major surprise when the striker sent his penalty high in a Champions League quarter-final second-leg encounter with Bayern Munich.

How many penalties has Erling Haaland scored?

Haaland has been prolific from the penalty spot, and at the time of writing had converted 33 penalties in his professional career at club level but also with the Norway international side from U19 level upwards.

Since moving to Manchester City, he has found the net seven times from the penalty spot.

By contrast, he has only missed three spot kicks in his whole career.

Haaland, of course, sent his kick high against Bayern and also failed to find the target while playing with Borussia Dortmund against Augsburg back in January 2021.

Remarkably, only one goalkeeper has ever saved a penalty from Haaland, and that was Union Berlin shot-stopper Andreas Luthe, who thwarted the striker on 21 April, 2021. Luthe’s success, though, was only partial as Marco Reus followed up to score the rebound.

Haaland, then, boasts a penalty success record of 91.7% - well above the average, which stands around the 80% mark.
