Manchester United will need to add a goalkeeper to manager Erik ten Hag’s summer transfer list, with the Old Trafford side set to lose an additional shot-stopper in the weeks ahead.

Although David de Gea is poised to sign a new contract with the club, despite a miserable performance in the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla, the Red Devils are set to see Dean Henderson sold in the summer.

And on top of this, it now appears that on-loan goalkeeper Jack Butland will depart the club in the summer, too.

Butland, a nine-time capped England international, arrived on loan from Crystal Palace in January to take the place of Martin Dubravka on the Man Utd bench after the 34-year-old Slovakia international returned to Newcastle, frustrated by his lack of opportunities during his temporary stay at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils, meanwhile, have not offered Butland a single opportunity to play and apparently have no desire to retain him ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Butland is set to head to Scottish Premiership side Rangers, with the Scottish Sun reporting that the 30-year-old is “on the brink” of a deal with an outfit that is set to go into the third qualifying round for the Champions League next season.

Rangers are set to lose veteran goalkeeper Allan McGregor, who is slated to retire at the end of the season.

Man Utd have a goalkeeper lined up

Manchester United, meanwhile, appear to be braced for this loss. Reports that broke in Croatia on Tuesday suggest that they have Croatia international goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic lined up to come into the club to act as De Gea’s understudy.

With a transfer fee in the region of €10 million, he will represent a relatively cheap support option for Ten Hag in the Man Utd goal.
