Gabriel Jesus has opened up about why Arsenal have been doing so well this season.

The striker had missed a majority of the campaign because of injury. But even without their star man, the Gunners are bearing down on a Premier League title. If they win the league, it would mark their first since 2004.

He was asked what is it about Arsenal this season that has made them that more special.

The former Manchester City striker replied: “The club are ready. They already have their idea of where they want to go. They have already started to go the work inside the club. Me and Arteta have known each other for a long time.

"I was training with him at City a lot. I remember when I was having a bad period, and he showed me some clips of my goals and it helped me a lot. He takes care of everyone - not just players but everyone with the club.”

Zinchenko full of praise for Jesus

It comes after Oleksandr Zinchenko lauded the 'incredible' work rate of Jesus. Both played together at Man City and it seems that has held firm even at north London.

Zinchenko said to Sky Sports: “When we do simple exercises, normally the guys in the middle, when trying to win the ball back [they put in] 50 per cent of their focus.

“But [Jesus], he’s like an animal. Sometimes there are a lot of frustrating moments in football - when you don’t play much when you didn’t play well in the last game - but him, his reaction in all these moments is incredible. Chapeau.

“At City, I was watching him thinking ‘Wow, that’s the way you need to react on these, these and these moments’. And he was always the best on the pitch in training sessions. Always.

“Amazing talent. I know that he worked so hard to be in the position he is in right now, and I’m so happy to know him personally. It’s a pleasure to have these kinds of teammates in your team.”
