Alejandro Garnacho has sealed his contract with Manchester United - with only the image rights holding it up, FootballTransfers can confirm.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that the attacker had put pen to paper over a deal that would see him stay at Old Trafford for five years. Sources close to Man Utd have told us the deal will be until 2028 - with an option to make it 2029.

We were told that the announcement was imminent - with only the tiniest of details holding it up.

Weeks have passed but now it appears that it is the image rights that have been the hold-up.

As we have previously reported, Garnacho has agreed to a £30k-per-week contract with huge added incentives.

Also in place is a 'contract roll up' whereby the bonuses he reaches in the first year come to his standing wage in the second - with the bonuses on top. Garnacho is now in Band 3 of the club's wages - but has room to get to Band 2 as his wage goes up in relation to his contract.

Indeed, he will effectively earn more year-on-year in accordance with his form - as long as he is used by Erik ten Hag over the coming seasons, and provides goals and assists. Appearances and starts have also been woven into the youngster’s deal.

As we broke over the summer, the youngster has triggers within his scholarship agreement that extend on his birthday every year until 2024 - plus an option of an extra year, even though at the time, there were stories that he was coming up to the end of his contract.

Garnacho deal breaks the mould

The deal reflects a new model by the club, which is in the process of being sold. Instead of forking out huge bumper deals to youngsters, Ten Hag wants to ensure that his players remain competitive.

The winger made his debut against Chelsea in April last year before breaking into the senior set-up on a regular basis in November, with Ten Hag impressed with the player during pre-season and opting not to send him out on loan. His rise has been meteoric since then.

The 18-year-old has made 27 appearances for Man Utd, scoring three goals this season.
