How Shakhtar are ripping off Chelsea with €100m Mudryk transfer

Shakhtar Donetsk have ripped off Chelsea by selling Mykhailo Mudryk for €100 million.

Mudryk is an exciting prospect, at 22 years of age, but he is not worth what Chelsea have paid for the player.

He has an impressive seven goals and six assists in 11 Premier Liha starts in the 2022-23 season.

He also registered two goals and three assists in the Champions League group stage.

This proves that Mudryk can perform at the highest level, but for €100m, Chelsea should have looked for a far more proven individual.

It is clear that Shakhtar were trying to take advantage of the Premier League club's unbelievable finances.

In 2022, the Ukrainian club sold David Neres to Benfica for €15m.

A 25-year-old with Champions League and international experience (with Brazil), Mudryk is absolutely not worth around six times more than him.

Shakhtar knew this, but they also knew that Chelsea have previous when it comes to paying over the odds for young players.

Better Chelsea alternatives to Mudryk

Samuel Chukwueze - Villarreal

The Nigeria international primarily operates off the right wing but is versatile enough to shift to the left.

This season, he has seven goals and six assists in 24 matches across four competitions.

And data analytics experts SciSports believe he is a player capable of going all the way to the top of the game in the right environment.
