Joao Felix: Barcelona tracking Chelsea loanee

Barcelona are tracking Joao Felix over a possible summer move.

The Atletico Madrid attacker is currently on loan at Chelsea until the end of the season and now the La Liga giants are reportedly looking to come in for a transfer swoop for the summer.

Sport report that Atletico and Barca share a good relationship, having just sealed the switch of Memphis Depay €3m to the Spanish capital this window.

Diego Simeone and Portugal international Felic have a fractious relationship and there is no suggestion that it could be amended going into the new campaign.

Felix, who received a three-game ban on his Chelsea debut, of which he has already served two, will return to the Metropolitan upon the conclusion of the campaign, and there will undoubtedly be a number of potential suitors.

His agent, Jorge Mendes, maintains a good relationship with Barcelone, representing players such as Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde or Nico Gonzalez. who’s on loan to Valencia.

This is not the first time that Barça has asked about the 23-year-old - they inquired about a possible move when Antoine Griezmann made the return to Atletico.

Felix has made 131 appearances for Atletico since joining the club for €128m from Benfica in 2019.

The attacker will serve his final match suspension in Chelsea's upcoming Premier League clash with Fulham - and will be available selection again for the Blues' trip to West Ham on February 11.

Ousmane Dembele blow

Barcelona suffered a blow following the injury to Ousmane Dembele against Girona on Saturday. It’s thought the 25-year-old expected to be out for about three weeks.

The side now has four attackers on their books - Robert Lewandowski, Ansu Fati, Raphinha and Ferran Torres, with the latter three currently enduring poor form.

It’s believed that Xavi asked Barcelona director Mateu Alemany for a reinforcement this window but the club’s transfer chief stated that it’s not possible with issues around Financial Fair Play.
