The trio of 21-year-olds, though, are coming to an important stage in their futures. Saka, Martinelli and Saliba are all out of contract at the end of June 2024, which makes their futures uncertain if they reach the summer without having signed a new deal.

FootballTransfers understands that both Saka and Martinelli are virtual formalities to sign new contracts, while the same is also said of Saliba.

Romano has since confirmed this information. He told CaughtOffside: “Arsenal fans keep asking me for updates on contracts for their star players. My understanding is they will discuss again with Bukayo Saka’s agents in the next weeks and months, same for William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli. The plan is clear: they want to extend the contracts, but these things take time.”

Saka’s future at Arsenal has been reportedly most in doubt. Manchester City have been following the England winger, who has impressed with Arteta’s side this season, and there is a sense that of all the trio, his long-term future at the Emirates Stadium is the most vulnerable.

With Arsenal racing towards a title challenge, though, there is little incentive for the player to depart the club at this juncture.

The Gunners look certainties to be in the Champions League next season, so this makes this an opportune moment for them to bolster their squad for the future, with a leading priority securing the future of their young stars.

It appears that only patience is needed for the contracts of Saka, Martinelli and Saliba to be confirmed.
