Man Utd save £15.5m with Ronaldo release

Manchester United announced yesterday that they reached a mutual agreement with Cristiano Ronaldo for the termination of his contract.
Ronaldo’s future at the club was always in doubt after his unsanctioned interview with Piers Morgan where he criticized the structure, Glazer family, Erik ten Hag and more.
He has wanted to leave the club all summer and the agreement was finally reached on Wednesday, with the player free to join any club he wishes from here on.

Ronaldo was in the final six months of his contract but as a result of the termination, Manchester United won’t have to pay him a penny of his wages and the relationship between player and club is entirely over.

Manchester United have saved up plenty of money as a result of the termination of Ronaldo’s contract – he was the club and the Premier League’s highest earner.
It’s reported that the two parties agreed to not include a pay-out, and that has saved the club around £15.5 million in wages, which could well be reinvested elsewhere.

It’s believed that Manchester United would be open to signing a forward in January to make up for Ronaldo’s loss and are looking at options in the transfer market.
Additionally, there could be other changes made in the squad to make up for the lack of depth and ensure Manchester United are prepared for the second half of the season.

As for Ronaldo, it’s unclear where he’ll be playing his football in the second half of the season as many top clubs have ruled out a potential signing of the player.
Real Madrid, PSG and Chelsea have seemingly ruled out a possible move and his only real options are Newcastle United and Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
More about his future will be known after the end of Portugal’s World Cup campaign when domestic football in Europe resumes and transfer activity and planning resumes.
