Man Utd and Barcelona amongst clubs interested in Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez has impressed since moving to Benfica this past summer from River Plate and his form is attracting interest from other European clubs already.

Fernandez was an emerging talent in Argentina before Benfica took a chance on him and he has delivered, even getting a call-up to the Argentina set-up.

Now, his stock is set to rise further as Argentina are set to call him up to their World Cup squad for the tournament later this month in Qatar.

Record in Portugal have pointed out that top European clubs have taken note of his rise and he is quickly gaining admirers from some of Europe’s top clubs, with a transfer a real possibility.

Man Utd and Barcelona in for Fernandez

They claim Manchester United are the club with the most interest as Erik ten Hag is a fan of the player and that they are ‘crazy’ about bringing him to Old Trafford.

Manchester United have been targeting a new midfielder for a while and feel Fernandez fits their profile, with a deal for him next year a real possibility.

Other than them, the likes of Barcelona are also in the race, with Xavi seeing him as a possible part of the future of their midfield.

The 21-year-old is also being watched by Manchester City and Liverpool, and should he perform well at the World Cup, there will certainly be a rise in suitors for him come January 2023.

Benfica signed Fernandez from River Plate for a €12 million fee back in July, but he is protected by a release clause that is worth €120 million – any club that wants him will have to spend big to get the Argentine youngster...

Additionally, it’s noted that Benfica are not open to doing business in January and will wait until the summer to get any deal done for him.
