Chelsea are confident that they will land 16-year-old Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick, according to a report from the Evening Standard.

Competition for the record-breaking teenager is liable to be hot in the coming weeks, with a deal possible in the early part of 2023. However, Endrick will not be able to complete a move until after he turns 18 in 2024, in line with FIFA regulations.

The teenager, though, is already turning the heads of many major clubs around the world, having quickly become a regular on the scoresheet in Brazil’s Serie A, just weeks after signing his first professional contract with Palmeiras.

Chelsea are bullish over their prospects of landing the youngster because they feel that they will outspend their rivals on the player. Indeed, this would be in line with Todd Boehly’s project, which is to buy young players and tie them to long contracts.

For Endrick, meanwhile, Real Madrid provide a draw because of the manner in which they have launched the European careers of compatriots Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, who found themselves in a similar situation to him early in their professional lives.

PSG can play the Neymar card, with the Brazil international superstar clearly a major draw – although Endrick has declared that he prefers two Premier League superstars.

“There's the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1 ... I play video games a lot, I make a career out of playing,” he told TV Gazeta.

“I watch all the leagues, I play in all the leagues, practically. I see myself playing in any league.

“My dream is to play in Europe, but what I want is to be playing. I'm focused on Palmeiras and I don't care where I'll be playing in the future ... Currently, Erling Haaland is a new guy that I look up to, who was almost from my generation. But, of course, there is also Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Endrick may be keeping his options open, then, but Chelsea are confident that their financial offer will be sufficient to get a deal over the line.
