Manchester United benchwarmer Casemiro has told friends that he regrets joining the club this summer, according to Todo Fichajes.

Casemiro was a big money signing for Man Utd, who splashed out more than €70 million to buy the Brazilian from Real Madrid.

At Madrid, Casemiro had been a key player for a team that has dominated European football over the past decade.

He was an integral part of five Champions League triumphs, including the victory in the final against Real Madrid earlier this year.

However, he has barely featured for Man Utd since arriving at Old Trafford in August.

Casemiro has yet to start a Premier League game, playing for just 82 minutes in total. He has just one start in all competitions, that being in the Europa League.

Todo Fichajes reports that the 30-year-old has told his close circle that he regrets leaving Madrid.

Casemiro is frustrated that he is not playing and is behind Scott McTominay in the Man Utd pecking order.

He also is frustrated that he has left the champions of Europe for a side that is well off the English and European elite, as shown by their 6-3 thrashing by Man City at the weekend.

Casemiro feels he has made the wrong decision leaving Madrid for Man Utd but it is unlikely there is any way back for him at the Santiago Bernabeu given he turns 31 during the season.

It has been speculated that Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag never wanted Casemiro, and this could explain why he has been given so few opportunities to play.

It is well known that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong had been Man Utd’s first-choice transfer target for the centre of midfield this summer.

But De Jong rejected Man Utd in order to stay at Barcelona, despite the Blaugrana accepting an €85m offer from the English team.
