Revealed: the modest fee Man Utd could land Toney for

Ivan Toney has made a huge name for himself since coming up to the Premier League in 2021, having previously shone in the lower divisions in English football before that.
The Brentford forward has been in great form so far this season, even scoring a hat-trick against Leeds United, and his stock rose after his England call-up for this month’s international qualifiers.
There are several clubs in England interested in his signature – many of whom play in Europe – and given his rise, qualities and form, this comes as no surprise.
Manchester United are one of the top clubs interested in signing Toney, and could make a move, but it seems unlikely to happen in the January transfer window.

Manager Erik ten Hag has been given plenty to spend over the summer, spending over £200 million on six players in the summer, but will need a new forward in the coming months.
Marcus Rashford has been playing there and has generally done well, but options such as Anthony Martial are uncertain on fitness and Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is unclear.
It looks likely that Ronaldo will leave the club, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, and the player eager to play at a club where he can compete for trophies in the final year of his career.

As a result, Manchester United may turn to Toney, but according to Fabrizio Romano, a move is more likely in the summer transfer window.
“The player is happy at Brentford and the project is very good for the future. But it will be more than £40 or £45 million to sign Ivan Toney right now,” Romano said on Que Golazo.
Manchester United are also keeping tabs on other forwards such as Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann, who is on loan at Atletico Madrid, as well as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
