How Ajax ace Antony can seal Man Utd transfer
Antony will have to hand in an official transfer request to force a move to Manchester United, FootballTransfers is told.
The Premier League side are still targeting the winger at the behest of new manager Erik ten Hag and have not given up yet.
FootballTransfers has been informed that although Ajax are holding firm on their price for Antony - around €80m - the player is keen to make the switch and work under his former manager once more.
We can confirm the deal is currently at a sticking point and it would take player intervention to see it over the line.
The winger has asked to leave already and is keen to see a move to Old Trafford come to fruition.
But it will take an official request to finally force Ajax's hand and secure the switch to the Red Devils that he desires.
The Dutch giants have some internal issues, we are informed, with some of the board unhappy for letting so many players of their top stars leave at one time, even though some replacements have been bought in.
It is the reason why they have raised the price so high for the Brazil international attacker. The Amsterdam club have already lost Ten Hag and Lisandro Martínez to Man Utd, which is why their value of the attacker has rocketed, much to the frustration of the potential buyers.
Antony's Man Utd hint
Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in February 2020 and has gone on to be one of their star players. After Ten Hag left for Man Utd, the winger posted a heartfelt message on social media.
"I want to wish you all the best at your new club," he wrote. "I also want to thank you for everything you taught me. I am thankful [for] all the opportunities and learning every day.
"Know that I will always stand with you if you need me."
Nevertheless, he played and scored for Ajax in their Johan Cruyff Shield loss to PSV at the weekend and celebrated his strike by passionately pointing at the club badge.
Antony has been sending mixed messages, and only by handing a transfer request to Ajax can he finally seal a transfer to Manchester United.
